Starting at the age of three or four, we begin to become aware of the realities of life and ask some philosophical questions about life. Where do we come from? Are we real? What happens after death and many other questions we try to ask.

Adults try to give the best answers to our questions in the hope of providing answers that satisfy our curiosity.

Various kinds of answers arise based on the level of intelligence of the adults we ask. Most answered that we were created by a greater power accompanied by accompanying answers as a consequence of our being created.

We are creatures created by a greater power; the earth was created as a home and a place to live, animals and plants were designed to support life, the sun to illuminate the day, and the moon and stars to beautify the night. After death, we get good or bad rewards according to what we do in the world. Simple answer. It’s enough to calm down and fulfill our curiosity a little.

However, with time and age, we begin to learn and realize that the reality of life is not as simple as adults’ answers. Our body is a very complex structure composed of trillions of cells. Each unit cell is a unit of life even though the cell itself is composed of non-living chemical materials. Those non-living particles are atoms that are composed of sub-atoms. Sub-atoms have an even more complicated structure of quarks to imagine.

Earth is a planet in the solar system. The sun is a star at the center of the solar system. Starlight is not light to beautify the night; stars emit their light. Moreover, there are other larger structures such as galaxies, superclusters, observable universes, unobservable universes, and even multi-universes.

Entering adulthood, we realize that we are not the center of the universe. The universe is too big for us to reach. Our brains are constantly trying to digest all of this. The realities of life begin to confuse and frighten. Indeed, no adult in this world knows for sure the mysteries of life.

The belief system that is generally adopted today provides answers to the mysteries of life, but there are too many versions of the belief system solutions. It is estimated that there are about 4000 belief systems in this world, with various versions of the stories and claims they believe in.

On the one hand, science is an alternative that gradually gives hope in uncovering the mysteries of life. On the other hand, scientific findings have been proven to explain several phenomena in life. However, when one question is answered by science, other questions will emerge that need to be answered. But that’s science; science develops due to our ignorance of the mysteries of life.

Belief systems and science do not have definite answers to the mysteries of life. Adherents of belief systems don’t need to be arrogant because what they believe is relative. Valid for one belief system, not necessarily true for adherents of another belief system. Likewise, adherents of science, don’t be arrogant, scientific findings can indeed explain and answer natural phenomena, but there are still many natural phenomena that science cannot explain. Be humble and admit that none of us know the mysteries of life best.

The mysteries of life will always be the mysteries of humanity. We realize that we are a tiny part of the universe.

Regardless of whether there is a purpose for living in this world. Life is a privilege. We are one success from 200 million sperm cells in every milliliter of semen struggling to reach the ovum (egg cell). We cannot choose where, when, why, what, and how we are born. But for sure, we have a blank canvas on which we can paint anything. We can create our own goals. There are still many books we haven’t read, places we haven’t visited, skills we haven’t mastered, and many other things we haven’t accomplished. Enjoy life and create meaning in life. Focus on the things that we consider meaningful and enjoy life.
